Intermediate Arabic: Arabic Grammar
Arabic Level 3 marks the transition from foundational language skills to formal study of Arabic grammar (nahw). In this level, students will study Al-Ajrumiyyah, the classical primer that has served for centuries as the essential introduction to Arabic syntax and grammatical structure. This course is designed for students who have completed Level 2 or possess solid reading, writing, and beginner grammar skills.
Through a clear and practical approach, students will explore the major categories of words, grammatical roles, case endings (i‘rab), sentence types, and the core principles needed to understand how Arabic sentences are constructed. Each lesson will include explanation, examples from Qur’anic verses and classical texts, application exercises, and opportunities to analyze sentences in class.
Class Details:
Tuesdays and Thursdays: 8:00 am to 9:00 am PST
By the end of the course, students will:
Understand the foundational rules of Arabic grammar as outlined in Al-Ajrumiyyah
Recognize grammatical positions and parse simple to moderate sentences
Identify nouns, verbs, and particles and their governing rules
Apply grammatical principles when reading Qur’an and classical Arabic texts
Write more accurate sentences with proper structure and case endings
Develop the confidence needed for intermediate and advanced Arabic studies
Level 3 serves as a bridge into deeper linguistic understanding and prepares students for advanced textbooks, classical readings, and higher-level Arabic comprehension.
