Yahya
Under the guidance of Sh. Salahudeen Zubair, Yahya finished memorizing the Qur’an at the age of 14. With this foundation in place, he eagerly embarked on a journey of teaching Qur'an to others while continuing to expand his own knowledge and understanding. In 2017, Yahya was granted the honour of studying at the Islamic University of Madinah. He graduated in 2024 with a Bachelor’s in Quranic Studies from the Faculty of Qur’an. In addition to his religious studies, Yahya holds a Bachelors of Science in Biology from the University of British Columbia. He currently serves as an imam at the Richmond Jamea Masjid in Richmond, British Columbia.
Abdimalik
At the age of 14, Abdimalik Sheikh Ali accomplished the impressive feat of memorizing the entire Qur'an. Determined to deepen his knowledge and understanding of the sacred text, he traveled to Egypt to further study the various modes of Qur'anic recitation. In addition to mastering the art of recitation, he also delved into a variety of Islamic disciplines such as Islamic jurisprudence, theology, and Arabic grammar and morphology. His dedication and hard work have earned him multiple certifications, and in 2018, he was accepted to study at the Islamic University of Madinah, where he graduated with a bachelor’s in Islamic Jurisprudence from the Faculty of Shariah.
Abdul Mueez
Currently studying at the Islamic University of Madinah, Abdul Mueez has dedicated his life to the pursuit of religious knowledge. At the age of 13, Abdul Mueez memorized the entire Qur'an. This served as a foundation for Abdul Mueez to lead Taraweeh salah and develop a passion for Tajweed and Qira’at. Through dedicated study and hard work, Abdul Mueez has earned Ijazah in Hafs ‘an ‘Asim and has extensively studied various classical Tajweed texts. In addition to Abdul Mueez's religious pursuits, he also has a strong academic background. Abdul Mueez holds a Bachelor's degree in Microbiology and Immunology from the University of British Columbia, and recently graduated with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree in 2021. Abdul Mueez is a well-rounded individual with a deep understanding of both religious and scientific fields.
Idiris
Idiris Moallim, born and raised in Toronto, is currently a student at the Islamic University of Madinah, with a desire to study in the faculty of Hadith. Prior to his arrival in Madinah, Idiris spent valuable time in Cairo, honing his Arabic language skills and graduated from the Lisan Al-Arab Language Centre with excellence. He has a deep passion for the Arabic language and its many sciences. Idiris is an outgoing individual with a diverse range of interests, from history to sports. He is dedicated to his studies and always looking for opportunities to improve himself and serve his community.
Saed
Saed Mohamoud embarked on a journey of learning Arabic and Islamic studies in 2012. He began by honing his skills at an Intensive Arabic institute in Kuwait City, where he graduated with honours. Determined to further his knowledge, Saed then traveled to Cairo, Egypt to continue his studies. He graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Islamic Jurisprudence from the Islamic University of Madinah in 2023. Saed has a wealth of experience in teaching Islamic studies to students of all ages, from young children to adults. He has a particular passion for Islamic Jurisprudence and its principles and his dedication to teaching is evident in his work.
Amar
Amar Abdifatah is a highly accomplished individual with a strong commitment to community service and education. Growing up in Ottawa, Canada, he memorized the Quran at the age of 17 and went on to graduate from the Ottawa Islamic School. He then earned a Joint Honours degree in Political Science and Communications from the University of Ottawa. He is currently pursuing studies at the Islamic University of Madinah and working towards completing his graduate degree from Arizona State University (ASU). In his spare time, he enjoys playing competitive sports, socializing with friends, and working on various Dawah and community projects with a focus on youth development. Amar's dedication to learning and giving back to his community makes him a valuable asset to any organization or community.
Awais
Awais Atif finished memorizing the entire Qur’an with Sh. Dr. Osman Mohamed at the age of 16. Since that time, he has been a staple at the Richmond Jamia Masjid as a volunteer, teacher, khateeb and imam during Taraweeh. Well known in the community, Awais has organized and delivered numerous lectures and workshops at the Richmond Jamea Masjid. Currently, he is in the process of obtaining his Ijaazat in the style of ‘Asim (Hafs and Sho’ba) with Sh. Dr. Osman Mohamed. Awais is also eager to expand his knowledge of Arabic and is taking Arabic classes with Sh. Yahya. In addition to his religious efforts, Awais completed a Bachelors of Science in Biology from Simon Fraser University and a Medical Degree from Kazan State Medical University. He hopes to train as a family doctor and serve the Muslim community in the Lower Mainland insha’Allah.
Abdulhameed
Abdulhameed Baksh's Quraan journey began at a very young age at home with his parents teaching him to read the Quraan and memorizing the smaller Surahs. With the help of Allaah سبحانه و تعالى he completed the memorization of the Qur’an in Egypt at the young age of 10 under Sheikh Amr Izzat. His passion for Qur’anic studies and recitation excellence led him to pursue higher standards of mastery, culminating in the attainment of his Ijāzah in Victoria, BC from Sheikh Abdur-rahmaan Hassaan Marta. Over the years, Abdulhameed has served his community as a dedicated Qur’an teacher and reciter, inspiring students through his precision, humility, and love for the Book of Allah.
In addition to his Qur’anic education, Abdulhameed continues to strengthen his Arabic studies and Islamic knowledge under qualified teachers. He is known for his calm teaching style, sincere mentorship, and commitment to nurturing a deep connection between students and the Qur’an.
